Os Foyos Quarry (Carballeda de Valdeorras)
SAMACA 33 comes from the Os Follos quarry, located in O Alto da Cova at an altitude of approximately 1,700 m, within the municipality of Carballeda de Valdeorras (Ourense, Spain). The quarry has been in operation since the 1960s and is worked as an open-pit site. It belongs to the Rozadais formation of the Upper Ordovician (approximately 455–435 million years ago).
This is a black slate with a very fine grain and a striated texture. It features a very high degree of fissility and excellent flexural strength, ensuring high homogeneity and outstanding performance in roofing.

PRIME
High-quality selection with strict criteria in terms of tolerances, thickness, and flatness. It offers excellent regularity and facilitates installation on site, ensuring a reliable result in full compliance with current standards.
STD
Production compliant with current standards, with more flexible selection criteria than Premium grade. It may present greater variability, so careful sorting on site is recommended to ensure optimal installation.
NATUR
Selection that optimises the natural yield of the slate, offering a cost-effective solution without compromising compliance with applicable standards. It may present greater variability in its characteristics, allowing adaptation to different installation styles.
HEAVY
Slate with greater thickness and weight, providing increased presence and robustness on the roof. Suitable for specific applications or particular construction requirements.
